Our Dreams Have So Much to Tell Us

I had a dream a few months ago, which led me to research myth, archetypes and active imaginings.

The next 3 paintings that I'm going to share are a result of me following the breadcrumbs of that interest.

One archetype in particular mirrored an aspect of what was happening in my inner world. I drew a diagram to make sense of it for myself.

Soon after I did that, a shape kept appearing in my sketches. Later while walking around I got a fuller picture of it, which felt part of much larger mythic narrative.

When painted, the shape I had been sketching came to resemble a beautiful beast in battle. It has a magnificent collar, it’s complex, textured and heroic in its angle and size.

Each time I see it it reminds me that each of us has such complexity, light and dark, and it's only when we bring compassion to our whole self that we really thrive.

It’s bright, thickly textured and the designer in me loves the graphic patterns.

I’m deep in this world of myth, symbols, messages and soon I’ll be announcing a way to work with me to dive deeper into your own personal myth.

In the meantime, who are my magical myth-loving people? If this hits a cord, hit reply and tell me what is comes up for you.

My Beautiful Beast is 48" x 60" oil on canvas. If it piques your interest and you want to know more, get in touch.

Meeting the Foremother

Meeting the Foremother Meeting the Foremother, 48"x 60" oil on canvas Soon after I began My Beautiful Beast, the next breadcrumb appeared. A friend invited me to a guided meditation — a journey to meet my ancestral foremother. I said yes. We traveled 30,000 years back to a peaceful, pre-warring matriarchal society. I was told to bring an offering. I brought two gold nose rings. The place I saw was a fusion of two sacred sites in nature: one near Boulder, CO, the other in Yosemite. When I...

This next collection is the start of a mythical world. It shines a light on the destructive forces of our own minds, how we hold ourselves back from our deepest desires and the things we do to strengthen our energy, fight back and be the person we want to be. In this mythical world there are — beautiful beasts caught in battle ancient foremothers in magical lands embodied dancing in the streets But first I started with 2 small abstract paintings. I am sharing the first one today. This one...
