Messages From 30,000 Years Ago

Meeting the Foremother

Soon after I began My Beautiful Beast, the next breadcrumb appeared.

A friend invited me to a guided meditation — a journey to meet my ancestral foremother. I said yes.

We traveled 30,000 years back to a peaceful, pre-warring matriarchal society. I was told to bring an offering. I brought two gold nose rings. The place I saw was a fusion of two sacred sites in nature: one near Boulder, CO, the other in Yosemite.

When I asked the foremother if she had a message for me, I heard two things:

“I’ve been here all along.”
“You have everything you need.”

I knew exactly what she meant. It was a coming home, a feeling of enoughness, belonging, and deep remembering.

This painting is that moment.

It's a true statement piece and it's available now.

It's the second in this mythic trilogy:

2. Meeting the Foremother - the return to self/home

3. Coming soon!

At 4 feet by 5 feet, Meeting the Foremother is a large-scale piece for the person who loves myth and the otherworldly. If this is you, I'd love to hear from you. DM me or reply to this email.

A Portal to New Territory

This journey deepened the world around my painting process. It opened up a new research thread that I’m now exploring alongside the work. The visuals and messages from the journey stayed with me and painting them helped anchor the feeling and extend the world.

Last week, I began guiding others on similar journeys to meet their own inner symbols and mythic messengers. This week, I begin translating those journeys into visual form.

I'll be back soon with the final painting in the trilogy. Until then, thank you for being part of this!

Much love,

Michelle

My Beautiful Beast I had a dream a few months ago, which led me to research myth, archetypes and active imaginings. The next 3 paintings that I'm going to share are a result of me following the breadcrumbs of that interest. One archetype in particular mirrored an aspect of what was happening in my inner world. I drew a diagram to make sense of it for myself. Soon after I did that, a shape kept appearing in my sketches. Later while walking around I got a fuller picture of it, which felt part...

This next collection is the start of a mythical world. It shines a light on the destructive forces of our own minds, how we hold ourselves back from our deepest desires and the things we do to strengthen our energy, fight back and be the person we want to be. In this mythical world there are — beautiful beasts caught in battle ancient foremothers in magical lands embodied dancing in the streets But first I started with 2 small abstract paintings. I am sharing the first one today. This one...
